TERMS AND CONDITIONS
FOR FAMILIES & STUDENTS PREPARING TO REGISTER
All families preparing to register for live-feed online classes must agree to the following "terms and conditions" before being accepted into the Apologia Academy:
- I understand that it is my responsibility (parent[s], family) to make sure we are legally homeschooling in the appropriate state or country.
- I have read, understand and agree to the following: Apologia Academy strongly affirms parents as the primary moral educators of their children. Apologia Academy is not the school - the homeschool is. Apologia Academy is a resource available to autonomous homeschool institutions. Therefore teachers will report all classroom activity, assignments, tests, quizzes, etc. to the parent via the student portal and will provide final grade suggestions based on this activity. It is the duty of the homeschool to monitor the grades of the student and develop their own transcripts and/or report card(s).
- I agree (student) to behave in a courteous manner during class. This includes proper etiquette in the chat box, respecting the instructors, and using godly integrity in completing assignments, taking tests, and sharing information.
- I understand that all registered families agree to receive the ApologiaWorld monthly e-newsletter.
- I understand that all registered students are expected to be "in their seats" when the "bell rings" (i.e. the scheduled time for the class to begin). Classes will begin and end on time.
- When possible, I will let the teacher(s) know (in advance) any day my child(ren) will be absent. For unexpected events (sickness, emergencies), parents and students should notify the teacher by email with the reason(s). Missing many classes will hinder a student's ability to excel in the course.
- I understand that all email lists are confidential and the sole property of Apologia Academy and not individuals including Apologia Academy teachers. Therefore I understand that my email address and communication(s) will not be shared outside of Apologia and Apologia Academy nor sold or given away to other companies.
- I (parent[s]) agree to be actively engaged in the education of my/our child(ren) including, but not limited to, deadlines, homework assistance, assignments, technical difficulties, teacher communication, and behavioral situations.
- I will use integrity when dealing with all financial matters including on-time payment of tuition and other fees, refunds, class withdrawals, early registration, and discounts.
- Refunds and Dropping/withdrawing from a class before the semester begins:
- I have read all the financial information found on this website including but not limited to refunds, class withdrawal, etc
- I understand that if I drop or withdrawal from a class prior to the beginning of the semester, I will forfeit my registration fee ($25) plus 5% of any amount paid. If curriculum has been purchased at a discount I may keep it. However, I will forfeit the discount, which will be reflected on my refund from Apologia Academy.
- Refunds and Dropping/withdrawing from a class when the semester begins – I understand the following:
- Dropping a class during the first 5 weeks of the semester: forfeit the $25 registration fee plus 20% per week of total paid (ex: end of week #1 = 20%, end of week #2 = 40%, week #3 = 60%, week #4 = 80%, week #5 = no refund)
- Examples:

- I understand that Apologia Academy accepts payments only by credit and debit cards. If I have chosen to pay by installments, each payment will be debited from my credit or debit card in accordance with the information on the tuition page.
- I understand that early registration (Please see the home page for registration dates) is ONLY for retuning Apologia Academy families and FULL-TIME missionaries and military (locally and abroad). I will not register early if I do not fit into this category for new families).
- Since Apologia Academy depends on technology for their quality educational process, I will agree to keep up-to-date on computer requirements. This includes regular computer maintenance, and communicating with Apologia Academy about any technical questions, needs, or problems.
- I agree to register only for classes I intend to take (you cannot be registered for one class and on the wait list for the same subject at another time).
- I will not go on a "wait list" unless I fully intend to take the class(es).
- I will ensure that my computer meets the minimum requirements.
- Live classes use WebEx for conducting class. I have tested my computer by downloading the WebEx player according to the "Technical Requirements" page. WebEx works fine on my computer and with my internet connection. FOR ALL TEACHERS & APOLOGIA ACADEMY STAFF:
APOLOGIA ACADEMY & APOLOGIA EDUCATIONAL MINISTRIES, INC
Standards of Academic Excellence & Code of Proper Conduct
Apologia Academy teachers/educators make a conscientious effort to exemplify the highest ethical standards.
Apologia Academy is based on biblical principles and operates with the highest degree of integrity among its employees and towards its customers. Our policies, procedures, and guidelines require the same standards from our teachers. To accept anything less would negatively affect the way in which students receive instruction.
In order to maintain these goals and consistently provide academic excellence we require our teachers to agree to a Code of Proper Conduct and Standards of Academic Excellence. These are simple, basic guidelines and policies to ensure families and students experience exceptional, professional, and appropriate interaction with all teachers and staff and are respected at all times, in both business and teaching/classroom situations.
It is our promise to Apologia Academy families and students that all those employed by Apologia Academy will uphold these standards of decency, courtesy, and professionalism. To violate these guidelines would be inappropriate and show a lack of integrity.
In addition to agreeing with the Apologia Educational Ministries, Inc. Employee Handbook (where applicable and appropriate to teachers), Apologia Academy teachers/educators and staff also agree to the following:
APOLOGIA ACADEMY STANDARD I: Ethical Conduct toward Practices, Performance, and Company

We strongly affirm parents as the primary moral educators of their children. Apologia Academy is not the school, the homeschool is. Apologia Academy is a resource available to assist autonomous homeschool institutions.
Therefore:
1. Apologia Academy teachers/educators will report all classroom activity, including assignments, tests, quizzes, and report card suggested grades, etc. to the parent via the student portal (and e-mail if appropriate) and will provide final grade suggestions based on this activity. 4. Apologia Academy teachers/educators will receive a Class Feedback summary based on a form to be sent to parents once per semester. All family names will be kept confidential. The Class Feedback form is for coaching purposes and will be used to help Apologia Academy teachers and staff to continually improve their communication and teaching skills.
5. Apologia Academy teachers/educators should deal considerately and justly with each student. They should seek to resolve problems, including discipline, in accordance with the law and Apologia Academy policy.
6. Apologia Academy teachers/educators will not intentionally expose the student to disparagement in class or in private communication.

8. Apologia Academy teachers/educators will, when faced with conflicts between the teacher, student, and/or family that cannot be resolved, report the situation to the Apologia Academy Director immediately. All e-mail correspondence must be scrutinized by the Apologia Academy director before being sent to the family or individual (this is only in reference to conflicts and potential conflicts, not to all e-mail correspondence between teacher and family/student).

If a resolution is not achieved, the issue should be discussed directly with the Apologia Academy director who will work together with the individual(s) to determine the best way to approach the situation. Apologia Academy teachers/educators can also speak with the human resources representative or president of Apologia if a resolution to the situation is not achieved.
If a difficult situation arises with a parent and/or student, the issue should be discussed directly with the Apologia Academy director who will work together with the teacher/educator to determine the best way to approach the situation.
12. Apologia Academy teachers/educators, in exemplifying ethical relations with colleagues, will accord just and equitable treatment and respect to all members of the profession, including those employed with other organizations.
13. Apologia Academy teachers/educators will not reveal confidential information concerning colleagues, unless required by law.
14. Apologia Academy teachers/educators will not willfully make false statements about other colleagues or staff, including those employed with other organizations.
